Food Allergies
Inclusive Dining at Rowan University
At Gourmet Dining, the health and safety of our guests is our top priority. Here at Rowan University, we’re committed to supporting student wellness by providing nutritious meals and empowering students to make safe, informed dining choices—especially for those with food allergies or dietary restrictions.
Understanding Food Allergies
Food allergies affect over 32 million Americans. A food allergy is an abnormal immune response to a food protein, which can lead to reactions ranging from mild discomfort to life-threatening anaphylaxis.
FDA's Top 9 Food Allergens
- Milk
- Eggs
- Fish
- Shellfish
- Tree nuts
- Peanuts
- Wheat
- Soybeans
- Sesame
These nine account for over 90% of allergic reactions, but any food ingredient can be an allergen
Allergen-Friendly Dining Stations
To support students with allergies or dietary needs, we proudly offer two dedicated dining stations that avoid the top 9 allergens and gluten in our recipes.
Please note: Coconut and coconut-based products are used at these stations.
Both stations are open 7 days a week for all meals
Don’t miss our allergen-friendly desserts available at both locations!
