Graduate Coordinator, Peer Education
Eligibility requirements: Position open to an incoming or current Rowan University graduate student.
Both FWS eligible students and those not eligible are welcome to apply.
Overview of Peer Education:
Peer Education was created as a way for students to get more involved on campus, build their sense of community, strengthen their personal well-being, while educating others on campus about well-being topics and health initiatives. This program follows the Rowan Thrive well-being model and NASPA Certified Peer Educator training.
Job Description:
Reports to the Healthy Campus Initiatives Coordinator. Support with the coordination of the Peer Education Program, which includes: Weekly Peer Education meetings; NASPA Certified Peer Educator core competencies and trainings; Additional campus outreach opportunities such as the annual Fresh Check Day, monthly tabling events, recruitment events, and additional programs. Assists with planning semester team-building activities/events and end-of-the year peer educator team event. Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Experience with supervision, advising, and/or mentorship of undergraduate students. Strong written and oral communication skills. Experience in health promotion, psychology, or counseling background. Strong Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion lense, with an understanding of social justice, and working with diverse student populations. Strong knowledge of Instagram, Twitter, Canva, and additional social media marketing tools.
Time Commitment: This position is assigned up to 10 hours per week. Work assignment is subject to renewal each fiscal year. The successful candidate will be expected to stay for two years.
This position is in-person for the Fall, 2022 semester. The successful candidate can stay for up to 2 years. Approximately 10 hours per week, beginning August, 2022 and ending in April, 2023. Required to work weekly Peer Education group sessions. Additional nights and weekends may be required due to Peer Education programs. The successful candidate will be required to take, and successfully complete the NASPA Peer Education Certification course.

Graduate Coordinator – Healthy Campus Initiatives
Position Summary: The Healthy Campus Initiatives Graduate Coordinator, under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Healthy Campus Initiatives, will be responsible for planning large-scale events in the fall and spring semesters (Student Mental Health Conference and Take Back the Night) as well as co-supervise a group of undergraduate interns from a variety of majors.
The responsibilities of this position include working independently and as a member of a team under moderate supervision to:
- maintain a high level of organization and flexibility,
- supervise undergraduate staff
- present materials related to mental health, suicide prevention, sexual health, sexual violence prevention, and alcohol/other drug education to students, faculty, and staff.
- collaborate with other university departments to maintain a full functioning Wellness Center, with communication and community event planning,
- have a high level of engagement and interest with marketing and social media planning.
- perform other duties as assigned
This position is assigned up to 10 hours per week. Work assignment is subject to renewal each fiscal year.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a graduate program at Rowan University
- Supervisory skills
- Discretion and professionalism in dealing with sensitive information.
- Strong interpersonal communication, customer service skills
- Cross-cultural sensitivity.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, be well-organized and task-oriented, perform effectively under pressure and adapt to changing demands and priorities.
