Manager Responsibilities
Thank you for hiring a Rowan University student. It is the supervisor's responsibility to ensure the following:
- The manager in the organization serves as the student's supervisor and mentor.
- The posted job description(s) compliments and enhances the student’s academic and career pursuits. A detailed guide to programs/degrees that Rowan offers to students can be found here: Rowan University Program Guide
- There is open dialogue regarding assigned tasks between manager and student.
- The manager is accessible while the student works at the organization.
- The manager provides complete and clear explanation of the following to the student:
- The work structure of the department
- Expectations of the work schedule (start and end times)
- The specific duties assigned to the student
- The manager signs the student’s timesheet. A manager is never to sign a blank time sheet.
- Students are only paid for hours worked. Students are not paid for their lunch and/or breaks.
- Students must not to exceed his/her overall FWS funding. Once the student depletes their FWS funding, the student must stop working. It is the student's and manager's responsibility to track this.
- Students may work no more than twenty (20) hours per week during the academic year, while classes are in session. Students may not work when classes are not in session, ie. - The manager will contact the Office of Career Advancement (OCA) as issues surrounding the employment or student arise.
- The OCA will be notified of termination of students’ services or participation in program. The manager must notify Deniz Dennery, Program Assistant at (856) 256-4334 and e-mail dennery@rowan.edu.
