Healing Through Art
Our programs use art to bring people together and support mental health in meaningful ways. Veterans can connect and unwind through glassmaking, while students and patients get access to fun, free creative experiences that boost well-being. Whether it's making art in a hospital or together in a classroom setting, these programs help build a stronger, more connected community.
Center Conferences
The George Family Center for Healing Arts is dedicated to creating a space for community, continued learning, and growth within the Arts in Health field. Stay connected to experience conversations with accredited professionals, participate in real healing arts experiences, and learn more about future conferences and opportunities hosted by the Center.
Visual Art for Military Wellness
In partnership with WheatonArts & Cultural Center, this program offers FREE visual art workshops for veterans and active-duty service members. The program has now expanded to include additional classes at Rowan College of South Jersey (RCSJ) Clay College, giving participants even more opportunities to explore the arts and build community.

By working alongside patients, families, healthcare professionals, faculty, staff, and students, artists facilitate meaningful artistic experiences that foster connection, encourage self-expression, and enrich the culture of care.
Aya Kinoshita: RISN Mosaic Artist in Residence
As the RISN Artist-in-Residence, Aya Kinoshita is leading a collaborative public art project with the Rowan Integrated Special Needs Center (RISN), engaging medical students, staff, healthcare providers, caregivers, and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in accessible, hands-on mosaic workshops.
Her residency will culminate in a permanent large-scale mosaic on the exterior of the Rowan Medicine Sewell campus. Community members are involved in every step of the process—from the initial design to the creation of the final artwork—making the mosaic a lasting symbol of creativity, nature, and belonging.

Jessica Mungekar: CARES Artist in Residence
As the CARES Artist-in-Residence, Jessica Mungekar partners with the Child Abuse Research Education and Service (CARES) Institute to provide ongoing arts programming for providers and staff. Through weekly workshops in a variety of creative mediums, participants are invited to step away from the demands of their work, engage in hands-on artmaking, and build community with colleagues. The residency creates space for reflection, stress reduction, and creative renewal while supporting the well-being of professionals who serve children and families impacted by trauma.
