Couch to 5k

Join us for a Couch to 5k Training Program!

You’re invited to participate in our first ever Couch to 5k training program, presented by the Student Affairs Professional Development Committee! This fun, casual running program is open to Student Affairs employees at all levels of fitness. We'll start the week of February 24th and culminate our training with the Run for Rowan 5k on April 18th. *Space is limited, so please complete the below form as soon as possible for the best chance to reserve a spot.

A few things to know:

  • The Couch to 5k program is open to all Student Affairs employees and provides you the opportunity to improve your well-being, get to know your colleagues, and have fun while accomplishing a fitness goal.

  • Each run may be completed in groups or on your own and will consist of an increasingly challenging series of run and walk intervals. Interval training has been proven to be one of the best ways to learn how to run, build stamina, and get in shape. New runners are HIGHLY encouraged to participate. If you want to learn how to run, this program is meant for you! All levels of physical fitness are welcome!

  • The program's finish line is the Run for Rowan 5k on April 18th. This 5k walk/run race is a tour of the Rowan Glassboro campus that benefits Flying First, the task force aimed at assisting first-generation college students here at Rowan.

  • It is FREE to participate in the Couch to 5k program. The Run for Rowan 5k is $10 for students and $25 for non-students who are registered on or before February 29th. Registration for the Run for Rowan 5k is separate from the Couch to 5k program and can be completed here. NOTE: Please join the "Student Affairs Couch to 5k" team when registering for the run.

  • Once registered for the Couch to 5k program, you will get an email with the kickoff date and more details in mid-February.

Want more information? We will be holding an information session on Wenesday, Feb. 5 from 3:00 - 4:00pm in Chamberlain Student Center, Room 129. Complete the form below to register for the information session and/or the training program.
