Welcome to the Rowan University Risk Management and Insurance Homepage


The Mission of the Office of Risk Management and Insurance is to protect Rowan University, its schools, colleges and auxiliary organizations from financial, human capital, physical asset or reputational loss that could impede the overall University mission of providing education, research, and patient care. In support of our mission, we encourage risk management awareness and collaboration amongst each University campus.

Our main functions include:

  • Identification and analysis of evolving risks or loss potential, in accordance with the growth and new initiatives of the University.
  • Loss prevention initiatives to include implementation of policies, procedures, and best practices to eliminate or mitigate loss potential.
  • Ensuring placement and management of appropriate institutional insurance programs in collaboration with the protection afforded by the State of New Jersey through our status as a New Jersey Public Research University.
  • Providing ongoing risk management service, education, and consultation to University departments and organizations regarding options to manage and control risks.
  • Implementing effective claims administration for losses that do occur.
  • Advising senior leadership how to best provide protection against key risks identified in the University’s strategic plans.
