First-Year Orientation
First-Year Orientation
Welcome to Rowan University!
We are excited to have you join our University community. Orientation is your introduction to your new campus community and provides you with the information you need to make the most of your Rowan experience.
We know starting college can be a lot to manage, so we have four unique orientation experiences for first-year students. You are encouraged to attend all four programs, as they are designed to give you the information you need to complete the next step in your college transition when you need it:
- New Student Checklist & Online Education Requirements (after confirming admission)
- Summer Welcome Days (June 19 - July 29)
- Fall Orientation: Welcome Week (August 27 - September 1)
- Start Thriving (September 2 - October 14)
Attendance at these orientation programs is required, but also a fun way to get connected to campus and meet other new students. Your attendance at orientation will be tracked as part of your ProfLink Involvement Path, and the more programs you attend the more chances you have to receive a Rowan Rewards event attendance prize! You can view your progress towards completing your undergraduate orientation requirement and earning your Rowan Orientation t-shirt on ProfLink.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is orientation required?
I thought orientation was one day, what are these four programs?
Orientation is an ongoing process of transition to college. Our orientation programs are designed to give you the information you need for the next step in your college transition when you need it. So, this information has been divided into four different programs to make each step more manageable. We recommend that you fully participate in each of the four steps in the order listed for a successful transition to college!
For a one-day orientation experience, you may be thinking of Summer Welcome Days. But don't miss all of the important information at Fall Orientation: Welcome Week before classes start in the fall!
How do I pay the orientation fee?
What if I cannot attend the scheduled in-person orientation dates?
We strongly encourage all students to participate in the in-person on-campus Summer Welcome Days and Fall Orientation: Welcome Week programs. This allows you to become more familiar with campus, meet other incoming students, and be more familiar with University resources before classes begin.
If you absolutely cannot attend an in-person orientation experience in June or July, please call our office at 856-256-4041 to discuss options. You may be able to attend our final fall Welcome Day prior to the beginning of classes. You would need to complete many new student tasks on your own over the summer to stay on track to begin Rowan in the fall term.
When do I register for classes?
New incoming first-year students are registered for their fall term classes by their academic advisors. You will select your own courses and register for them in Self-Service Banner for future terms.
Your fall class schedule is optimized for your major. If you are an Exploratory Studies student, your schedule is designed to be flexible and cover common course requirements for a variety of majors.
Students will learn more about their fall schedule with academic advisors at Summer Welcome Days. Schedules may change throughout the summer based on advanced placement credit and other factors, so be sure to view your schedule in Self-Service Banner again prior to the begining of the fall term. You may make changes to your schedule through the add/drop period, typically the first week of classes.
