Our Greek councils provide structure, support, and a collective voice for Rowan’s fraternities and sororities, helping them thrive and lead with purpose.
Inter Greek Council (IGC)
IGC serves as the collective voice and governing body for all of our recognized organizations on campus. As an umbrella organization, IGC brings together members from all of our councils to promote collaboration, shared values, and unified programming for the community. IGC plans and hosts large-scale events that celebrate Greek unity, such as Greek Week, and works to strengthen communication and cooperation between Greek organizations and the broader Rowan community. This council has an Executive Board that helps guide the direction and vision of the council.
InterFraternity Council (IFC)
The IFC represents and supports Rowan's social fraternities by promoting shared values such as leadership, service, and brotherhood. Most of our IFC organizations are affiliated with the North-American Interfraternity Conference (NIC), a national organization that provides leadership and advocacy for fraternities. IFC's mission is to empower members to become better men, and create a positive impact on the Rowan community.
Greek Cultural Organizations Council (GCOC)
GCOC is the governing body founded to support multicultural and identity-based fraternities and sororities. These organizations are gounded in values such as cultural awareness, community advocacy, academic excellence, and leadership development. GCOC fosters unity among member organizations by hosting purposeful programming that supports their missions and values. This council also takes pride in celebrating the unique identities of its members and educating the broader campus community about their differences. GCOC has an executive board that helps guide the direction and vision of the council.
National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC)
The NPHC is the governing body for the nine historically Black Greek-lettered fraternities and sororities, collectively known as the "Divine Nine" or "D9". Nationally, the NPHC was founded in 1930 on the campus of Howard University. Here at Rowan, we are proud to be home to all nine NPHC organizations, each with a rich legacy rooted in scholarship, service, cultural pride, and the advancement of Black communities. NPHC chapters actively engage in civic service, mentorship, and leadership development. The NPHC Executive Board helps guide the council's vision and initiatives.
National Panhellenic Conference (NPC)
NPC is the governing body for the six social organizations affiliated with the National Panhellenic Conference. It provides leadership, guidance, and support to member chapters while promoting the shared values of scholarship, sisterhood, service, and leadership. Each spring, NPC coordinates Formal Recruitment, a structured process that allows potential new members to meet all NPC sororities, explore their values, and find the organization where they feel most at home. An elected Executive Board leads the council, supports chapter development, and assists with formal recruitment and educational programming.
