State of New Jersey Office of the Public Defender: If you have been charged with a crime and cannot afford an attorney. For those in the Gloucester Region the Office of the Public Defender is located at 65 Newton Ave., Eastwood Prof. Bldg. Woodbury, NJ 08096 / 856- 853-4188.
Gloucester County Bar Association Lawyer Referral Service: Refers clients to a private attorney in a specific area of the law. These include family law, estate planning, landlord/tenant disputes, personal injury, and criminal matters, as well as many others. 856-848-4589.

Victims of Crime Compensation Office
The New Jersey VCCO may help ease the financial burden faced by crime victims. Services covered by the VCCO include benefits for mental health counseling, medical bills, loss of earnings, funeral expenses (up to $5000), crime scene clean-up, relocation expenses, child care/day care services, victims’ rights attorney fees, domestic help, and other victim services related to crimes. 1-877-658-2221.
