  • We hosted our first DEI Day event on April 27, 2022, and had over 300 faculty, staff, and students attend! We had an amazing time celebrating with our community. 
  • We also hosted the 2nd Annual DEI Summit, which was a major success! Special thank you to 
    Dominique Pierson, Assistant Director at SJICR, for organizing and planning the summit.

  • Upcoming events include: 
    • NeuroTribes Book Study: The second round of NeuroTribes book studies facilitated by the faculty/staff Neurodiversity Affinity Group for the Center Steering Committee
    • Mental Health: “Let’s Talk” for Neurodivergent Students, now occurring Tuesdays at the Center for Neurodiversity from 11:00-12:00 P.M. Let’s Talk is a program that provides informal, confidential, one-on-one consultations with counselors from the Wellness Center.
    • Neurodivergent Community: Student Neurodiversity Club Meets Tuesday evenings at 6:30; Faculty and Staff Affinity Group meets two Fridays per month.

Accessibility Services

  • A new Student Accessibility Council (SAC) is being formed. This advisory council will provide feedback to Accessibility Services and assist with programming/outreach to students, faculty, and staff related to topics including access, disability, equity, inclusion, mental health, neurodiversity, and social justice. Office of Student Equity and Compliance (OSEC) 

Not Anymore: Title IX/Sexual Misconduct Training - OSEC has recently issued an e-learning program in line with the University’s commitment to a safe campus environment free of sexual harassment, assault and misconduct. This program is being brought to the University through a contractual partnership with Vector Solutions, the provider of Not Anymore, an interactive online learning module designed to prevent sexual harassment, assault, and misconduct on college campuses.

You should have already received an email from Vector Solutions-Safe Colleges with logon instructions if you fall within the target audience listed below.

TARGET AUDIENCE: 

ALL Employees University-wide.

ALL Sophomore Students

ALL Medical Students (SOM & CMSRU)

ALL First-Year Graduate Students at all locations

We want to thank the many employees and students who have already completed their training to date. This training replaces the Title IX & VAWA Training administered in the past and is required annually to be offered in compliance with the Office for Civil Rights.

The deadline for Completion is: April 30, 2022

NOTE: You must achieve 80% success on the final assessment to receive a certificate.  It is not necessary to forward your certificate but, you may download it to retain a record.

Program Overview

This interactive online learning program is designed to educate Rowan employees about the realities of sexual harassment, assault and misconduct on campus and how to react in the event an incident is disclosed.

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?

The safety of our students and employees is our number one priority. As such, the University makes every effort to go well beyond compliance with federal legislation, such as Title IX, the Clery Act, Campus SaVE, by providing the very best in innovative learning technology to enhance awareness.

ACCESS TO THIS TRAINING:

You should have already received an email with instructions on how to access the training in the last several days. If you have not received your email, please contact: OSEC Program Facilitator, Margie Viggiano at viggianom@rowan.edu. Email reminders will go out weekly to those who have not completed the training.

  • Camden updates 
    • The gender-neutral bathroom project is approved and underway, the anticipated completion date is November 2022 

    • CAPA is currently working towards providing more dining services in Camden to provide students and staff with more dining options in the building via a Farmer’s Fridge and micro-market.

    • The Satellite Food Pantry project is underway with a Fall 2022 completion date (this project is a collaboration with Andrew Perrone who wrote a grant for the construction) 

  • ASCEND updates 
    • April 9th Information workshop for Alpha Phi Alpha mentoring organization, Annapolis, MD 

    • Accepted student receptions are taking place on: 4/9, 4/22 & 5/7 

    • Camden Senior Send-Off/ GPA ceremony is taking place on 4/21 at 3:00 P.M. at The Merion in Cinnaminson, NJ 

    • Glassboro Senior Send-Off/ GPA ceremony is taking place on 4/28 at 4:00 P.M. 

  • CHAMP/GEAR UP updates -
    • CAPA is completing interviews for the vacant CHAMP counselor position

    • CHAMP College & Career Fair with Camden Promise Neighborhood on April 28th at the Camden High complex; ASCEND and other EOF programs from around the state will have a table. 

The Faculty Center 

  • The Faculty Center is working on several DEI-related initiatives, including building the infrastructure to house all DEI professional development certificate programs in the Center and make DEI more central to the Center’s messaging.

  • CMSRU names interim Associate Dean for Diversity and Community Affairs. Julieta E. Barroeta, MD, associate professor of medicine at CMSRU, is succeeding Jocelyn Mitchell-Williams, MD, Ph.D., who was appointed interim Associate Dean for Medical Education at CMSRU.
