Gloucester County NAACP is planning to write a grant proposal for a federal grant – Office of Assistance and Secretary of Health and Minority Affairs, $40 million grant for up to 3 years to look at healthcare education in black and brown communities, they reached out to partner with Rowan, DEI is determining exactly what our role would be with the grant & how students can get involved
Rowan colleges and departments continue to work on their DEI Strategic Action Plans as much as possible from home
DEI Certificate – DEI is working to provide modules 4-7 in an online format by June, full offerings will take place Fall 2020
ASCEND and CHAMP
Planning to have virtual programs, working with Admissions and other departments on campus to get students on-boarded
Will be assessing technology needs and providing technology to students who need assistance
ASCEND and CHAMP programs beginning in the last week of June and there are both five- and six-week sessions
Awarded part of the Louis Stokes Impact Alliance, Rowan will receive approximately $50,000 – $60,000 per year of $3.2 million total for the grant
Strategizing communications system and shifting social media presence to one main SJICR page

Final Title IX regulations released- reviewing to ensure that Rowan’s review process is in compliance with policies and procedures, new regulations will take effect August 14th

DEI Equity Audit
The DEI Equity Audit is a survey designed to help Rowan measure and assess both their strengths and weaknesses around diversity and inclusion efforts for students, faculty, staff, and administrators.
Ayala Gedeon will serve as a liaison to keep student voice at the center of our focus.
Strategic Priority Committee (SPC) Updates
SPC 1 – Francesca Pugh newly appointed co-chair with Chris D’
SPC 2 – running an assessment of changes being made to policy due to the pandemic, putting together a survey to find success and challenges during pandemic, and working with departments to gain information on the difficulties students of color faced during pandemic – looking to form a committee to identify what went well and what did not go well
SPC 3 – continued work on the faculty hiring toolkit, working to add teaching evaluation questions, working on programming for an inclusive teaching certificate
