Welcome to The Launch Pad!
Camden Launch Pad Program
The Launch Pad (TLP) is an early college access initiative that provides Camden City public high school juniors and seniors with the opportunity to earn transferable, credit-bearing college courses—completely free of charge. Students are hand-selected after being recommended by a counselor or Dean and completing an application that allows them to reflect on what they hope to contribute to and gain from the experience.
How It Works:
Every Tuesday and Thursday during the regular college semester, students are transported from their high schools at 9:00 AM to Rowan University’s Camden Academic Building (RUCAB). There, they take a college-level writing or humanities course, followed by a 45-minute success workshop led by program staff. At 1:30 PM, they are picked up and returned to their high schools in time for lunch and to finish their school day.
Students’ college courses are reflected in both their high school report cards and official Rowan University transcripts. Their school schedules are adjusted to accommodate their participation in the program.
TLP follows Rowan University’s academic calendar and also honors individual high school closures. If a student’s high school is closed, they are not expected to attend class at Rowan. Classes begin after Labor Day and MLK Day and end on Rowan’s final day of instruction prior to Reading and Review.
The Launch Pad at Camden (TLP) was founded in April 2021 and is a part of the Center for Access, Persistence, and Achievement. It is located in Rowan's Camden Academic Building.
TLP is a comprehensive college access and pipeline program that provides dual credit and early college course work, student success resources, intentional recruitment and financial aid resources for high school students participating in dual credit and early college course work on the Camden campus.
TLP provides academic support and resources to academically promising high school students, who demonstrate a financial need and/or no family history of college. TLP also provides social and financial support to students and their families. TLP will partner with the surrounding community and local school districts to provide early college development pathways and student success programming.
