Rowan's Commitment to Digital Accessibility
At Rowan University, we’re building a digital campus that works for everyone.
These efforts align with the U.S. Department of Justice’s latest requirements under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act, finalized in April 2024. These requirements stipulate that all public universities must ensure their digital content—from public websites to course materials—meets Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA by April 24, 2026. Rowan isn’t treating this new standard as a checkbox. Instead, it’s an opportunity to build a culture where accessibility is part of how we work every day.
We call this The Rowan Way.
Across campus, faculty, staff, and students are creating more accessible digital content, supported by new training, cutting-edge tools like Siteimprove, and cross-campus collaboration led by the Office of Accessibility Services. This work belongs to all of us, and every page, document, and post matters.
Not perfection—progress. Every fix, every alt text, every accessible PDF includes one more person. The Rowan Way ensures we show up for each other.
