Recommended timing - by June 1 (fall admit) or December 12 (spring admit):

We highly recommend that you take your test prior to December 12 for spring admittance or prior to June 1st for fall admittance. This will give you an opportunity at orientation to work with an advisor to make any necessary corrections to your fall schedule (based on the results of your placement tests).

At Orientation:

If you take your test at Orientation you will miss a significant portion of Orientation. You may also miss an opportunity to meet with an advisor to make any necessary corrections to your fall schedule (based on the results of your placement tests). You may not be able to complete your placement tests because there are a limited number of seats.

After Orientation:

If you take your test after Orientation you will need to confer with your advisor as soon as possible (after completing your placement tests) to make any necessary corrections to your fall schedule (based on the results of your placement tests).

There are three options to choose from to complete your placement test:

1. You can test at home for a $10 fee, via ACCUPLACER’S online proctor.
2. You can find a local test center that administers ACCUPLACER placement tests, for a fee determined by the local test center. 
3. You can schedule an appointment to test without a fee at the Rowan University Testing Center.

Rowan University does not collect or receive any portion of the fees collected by the online proctor or local testing center options.

1. From the drop down menu “Choose a group” select Placement Test (Basic Skills Math, Basic Skills Reading, and/or College Level Math)
2. From the drop down menu “Choose an exam” select Placement Test
3. From the menu “Choose a Date” click on the calendar on the right inside the box, then choose a date that is in bold type and at least 36 hours in advance.
4. From the menu “Choose a time” select your preferred time
5. Complete “Who is taking this exam” information for the person who will be testing.
6. Read the “Exam guideline Acknowledgement” and check the box to agree to follow the guidelines
7. Complete “Needed Information”
8. Select ADD TO CART
9. Select COMPLETE REGISTRATION

Examity, the online proctor for College Board's Accuplacer Placement Test is now offering proctoring by Artificial Intelligence (AI Proctoring) at the reduced fee of $10.

To register for at-home ACCUPLACER placement testing ($10* fee required):

1. Verify that the desktop, laptop, or Chromebook computer you want to use for testing meets the system requirements. Phones and tablets cannot be used. You must have Google Chrome as a web browser, a webcam, internet connectivity with a minimum bandwidth of 3Mbps, and audio capabilities (speaker and microphone). If your system meets these requirements, please continue to number 2. If your system does not meet the requirements, you cannot take your placement tests on that computer. If you do not have access to a computer that meets the requirements, you may test on campus at the Rowan University Testing Center. Click here to schedule an appointment to take your placement tests on-campus at Rowan University’s Testing Center. There is no proctor fee the first time you take your placement test on-campus at Rowan University’s Testing Center.

      A representative of Testing Services will review your records to determine which placement tests are required.  A voucher and scheduling instructions will be sent to your Rowan Student email within 5 business days. Once you’ve received your voucher, proceed to Step 3.
3. Schedule your test with the Examity online proctor using the instructions included in the email you received with your voucher. There is a fee* paid directly to Examity for proctoring the exam. No portion of that fee is collected or received by Rowan University. You will need a debit or credit card to pay the proctor fee. If you have any technical or scheduling difficulties, contact the proctor’s support by emailing support@examity.com, clicking the Live Chat link within the Examity dashboard, or calling Examity customer service at 855-392-6489.
   
   When it is time for your appointment, log back into the site by returning to the Examity website by clicking here, then log in and follow the on-screen instructions to begin your test. Be prepared to test your system and log in about five minutes prior to your scheduled start time to allow for necessary set up. Please follow all of the instructions provided by Rowan University and by the Examity Proctor. Failure to follow the instructions provided could result in the interruption or cancellation of your exam.
   
   *If you are concerned about the proctor fee, you can take your placement tests on-campus at Rowan University’s Testing Center. There is no proctor fee the first time you take your placement test at the Rowan University Testing Center, however appointment availability is limited. Rowan University Testing Services permits Rowan students to take placement testing at any convenient ACCUPLACER test center locations.

Enrolling in placement testing at alternate locations may include a testing fee. Be sure to review the testing center's information in their location description. 

STEP 2:

Fill out a request form here to receive the required voucher to take a placement test at an alternate location.

Once Rowan University Testing Services receives your submission of this form, you will be contacted via email to your Rowan University email address within 5 business days with the voucher information that is required for you to complete testing at an alternate location.

The ACCUPLACER tests are untimed.

You can plan to test for at least 30-45 minutes per placement test. However, the placement tests could take you less or more time than this estimate.

You can transfer your ACCUPLACER test scores to Rowan University’s Testing Services.

College Board recently launched next-generation ACCUPLACER placement tests with redesigned reading and math content. Rowan University is administering the ACCUPLACER next-generation tests. If you took your tests prior to January 26, 2019 please contact testingservices@rowan.edu for an explanation of your scores. Yes. Challenge tests (re-takes) can be taken in person at the Rowan University Testing Center ($15) or at home with an online proctor ($20).

Schedule an appointment here (required), and then choose the option to re-take a placement test at the Rowan University Testing Center. The $15 fee must be paid by debit or credit card in order to schedule the appointment.

1. Verify that the computer you want to use for testing meets the system requirements: you must have a webcam, internet connectivity with a minimum bandwidth of 3Mbps, and audio capabilities (speaker and microphone). If your system meets these requirements, please continue to step 2. If you do not have access to a computer that meets the requirements, you may test on campus at the Rowan University Testing Center.

2. Click here, then select the option to request a voucher to re-take a placement test online.  There is a $10 fee for the challenge test voucher. Follow the prompts to complete the request of the voucher. 

3. Check your Rowan email for your challenge test voucher. You can expect to receive your voucher and scheduling instructions within five business days.

4. Schedule your test with the online proctor. Appointments are available 24/7. To schedule, you will need a debit or credit card to pay the $10 proctor fee. No portion of the proctor fee is collected or received by Rowan University.
