Campus Wastewater Testing

Campus Wastewater Testing

Campus Wastewater Testing & Public Health Monitoring

Rowan University is committed to student health and campus safety. Rowan participates in the CDC's National Wastewater Surveillance System (NWSS) to track trends in viruses and other health indicators across campus.

How It Works:

  • Wastewater from campus buildings is tested by the New Jersey Department of Health.
  • Testing identifies potential health risks without tracking individuals.
  • Results help the University respond quickly to protect students, faculty, and staff

Why It Matters:

  • Early detection of outbreaks
  • Supports campus wellness and safety
  • Provides data to guide public health decisions on campus
