Military Appreciation Week

From November 9th-November 16th 2019, we will be having our Military Appreciation Week! Please join us for a week of support, resources, and fun for the whole family!

All events will be participating in Toys-For-Tots where we will be accepting unopened, unwrapped toys for donation. These donations will be accepted until Friday December 13th. 

 

Military Appreciation Week Daily Schedule:

Saturday, November 2nd-Stars and Stripes Bingo - 9pm Student Center Ballroom

Join RAH in honor of Veterans Day for $1,000 Stars and Stripes Bingo. Veterans and their families can get an extra bingo board by showing their Military ID. Non-military participants can get an extra bingo board by bringing small toiletry or nonperishable items such as hand sanitizer, travel sized toiletries, granola bars, or gum to donate to Operation Chill. There will also be a showing of Pet Sematary in SC room 144 starting at 9:30pm. 

Stop by the Military Services table and get a candy bar and write a message to our deployed Rowan Students.

Monday, November 4th - Resume Builder- 4pm Location TBA 

Veterans and military students only , have your resume reviewed and ask questions prior to the Federal Government and Non-Profit Agnecies Career Fair. 

Thursday, November 7th- Federal Government and Non-Profit Agencies Career Fair  10 am until 2pm  Student Center Ballroom

Rowan’s annual Federal Government and Non-Profit Agencies Career Fair allows employers to showcase career opportunities with government and non-profit agencies. Dress to impress and bring copies of your resumes.

 Tuesday, November 12th-Stars and Stripes Round Table  2pm   Business Hall Room 104

Join the Military Services Office and student veterans, as they discuss how being in school and have orders or training has affected them. 

 Wednesday, November 13th- 2nd Annual Student Mental Health Conference 10 am -2pm                                                          Student Center Ballroom

The conference will include members of the Rowan community presenting on various topics relating to mental health challenges for college students. Wednesday, November 13th-  Exit 12 Workshop/Lecture CSC Rm 144 4pm 

Join Military Services as we welcome to campus Exit 12 Dance Company (http://exit12danceco.org/). They will be offering a workshop/lecture on how their dance company tells the stories of wartime.

                                                 Exit 12 Performance Boyd Recital Hall   7pm

Exit 12 will be joining us for an exciting performance. 

 Thursday, November 14th- Resource Day  Kopenhaver Career Resource Library Savitz Hall 2nd Floor from 10 am until 2pm.

Military-affiliated students stop by and visit some of the resources coming to campus to assist you including the People for People Foundation, Catholic Charities and more. 

 Friday, November 15th -R.E.D. Friday, Remember Everyone Deployed & Care Package                                                        Collection    10 am -2pm Owl Statue behind Savitz Hall

Join Military Services as we celebrate R.E.D. Friday remembering all our students who are deployed. Stop by the Owl Statue and pick up your R.E.D button and donate an item for care packages being sent to our NJ serviceman and women who are deployed.  

Suggested Items: Athletes Foot Cream/Ointment; Batteries(AA &AAA); Beef Jerky; Black Pens & Pencils; Crossword & Sudoku Puzzle Books; Cashews; Diaper Wipes; Disposable Cameras; Eye Drops; Gum;Hand cream(travel sizes); Granola or Power Bars; Hand Warmers; Hard candy;Individual Drink Mixes; Lysol or Clorox Wipes; Mixed Nuts;Play cards; Toothpaste,shampoo, bar soap, or sunscreen (travel sizes);Slim jims; Trail Mix; Tuna, Salmon, Chicken, Spam (in foil pouches); White cotton socks (boot or calf style) in all sizes; Chapstick; small writing tablets; envelopes

 Saturday, November 16th- Military Appreciation Day at Rowan Football Game

Join Rowan Athletics, Rowan ROTC, and Military Services as we host the 2019 Military Appreciation Football Game!  Come before the game starting at noon and see a Blackhawk (weather permitting), other military resources, and organizations. And don’t forget to drop off your new, unwrapped toy for our Toys for Tots collection. All military personnel or dependents with military id, are free to the game!

 

                                        Military Appreciation Day at Rowan Ice Hockey D2 Game @                                                         Hollydell  Ice Arena Vs. University of Scranton @ 8:15pm

Join Rowan Ice Hockey D2, and Military Services as we host the 2019 Military Appreciation Game!  Items will be for sale to raise money for veterans programing. And don’t forget to drop off your toy for our Toys for Tots collection.

 

Toys for Tots will be collected at every veterans week event and until December 13th in Savitz Hall Room 304!
