Rowan University offers and participates in a range of funding opportunities for eligible veteran students and their dependents.

Rowan Scholarship for Veterans and Dependents

Purpose:

 For Undergraduate Students:

The purpose of this scholarship is to provide assistance to eligible degree seeking veteran students and their dependents as well as those who have retired or are honorably discharged. Rowan Scholarship for Veterans and Dependents reduces tuition only by 20% for in state residents or allows out of state students to be charged in state tuition.  This scholarship opportunity will not result in a cash refund and is calculated after all other tuition reductions are applied. Scholarship is only offered during traditional fall and spring semesters.

 

For Graduate Students:

The purpose of this scholarship is to provide assistance to eligible degree seeking veteran students including those who have retired or have been honorably discharged. Rowan Scholarship for Veterans reduces tuition only by 20%. This scholarship does not apply to doctoral programs. This scholarship opportunity will not result in a cash refund and is calculated after all other tuition reductions are applied. Scholarship is only offered during traditional fall and spring semesters.

 

Policy:

Rowan University offers scholarship for eligible veterans and their dependents that meet the definitions and criterion established by Rowan University.  Rowan University reserves the right to amend, modify or cancel the policy, terms and conditions and other requirements, not mandated by Federal Law, at the University’s discretion.

 

Definitions:

 For the purpose of this scholarship Rowan University defines a Veteran Student as a student who is currently a member, honorably discharged or a retired member of the Armed Forces or National Guard. Eligible agencies include:

  • Air Force
  • Army
  • Coast Guard
  • Marines
  • Navy
  • National Guard

For the purpose of this scholarship Rowan University defines a Dependent as a spouse or child of a veteran as defined above. Eligible dependents include:

  • Biological children of the veteran.
  • Adopted children of the veteran.
  • Children under legal guardianship of a veteran.

Eligibility:

  1. Veteran or Dependent
  2. Must complete application and submit prior to July 1st deadline for fall semester and January 1st deadline for spring semester
  3. Maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least a 2.5
  4. Be a matriculated student
  5. Must file a FAFSA
  6. Registered with the Veterans Affairs Office

Procedures:

  1. Complete disclosure documentation with Military Services.
  2. Completed FAFSA on file with Rowan University’s Office of Financial Aid
  3. Provide proof of service or dependency.
    1. Accepted forms of proof include:
      1. Current Military ID card
      2. DD-214 Member 4 Copy
      3. Certificate of Eligibility for VA Education Benefits.
      4. NOBE (Notice of Basic Eligibility)
    2. Dependents will have to provide a proof of dependency. Accepted forms of proof include:
      1. Current Dependent ID card
      2. Veterans DD-214, with a copy of adoption, birth, or marriage certificate
      3. Certificate of Eligibility for VA Education Benefits
      4. Command letter verifying your dependent status
  4. Must Apply for Scholarship through the Military Services Office. Students only have to apply once to receive scholarship it will maintain on their account until degree is complete unless student drops below a 2.5 GPA. If the scholarship is lost students cannot reapply.
  5. Applicants will be notified by August or Junuary 15th  of scholarship award status through their student e-mail account.
