Welcome to the Center for Well-Being
The Center for Well-Being was established in 2024 due to the groundwork of the Rowan University Thrive Committee, the University Well-being Committee, and the Wellness Strategic Plan Task Force. Beginning in 2018, these working groups were comprised of committed staff, students, faculty, and a dedicated Board of Trustee member to help crystallize and bolster well-being across the campus community.
Wellness is the active pursuit of holistic health that extends beyond physical health and works in harmony with dimensions of well-being to help individuals reach an optimal state of living well. At Rowan University, we define well-being as a process of holistic health that honors the human experience and fosters an environment for all to flourish and thrive. In accordance with the Inter-Association definition (2020), Rowan University supports and endorses the Inter-Association definition of well-being as an optimal and dynamic state that allows people to achieve their full potential.
About Us
In alignment with Rowan University’s mission, the Center for Well-Being is a comprehensive and inclusive campus resource center that supports and promotes the holistic development of all students, staff, and faculty, incorporating the six dimensions of Rowan Thrive, focused on physical, social, purpose, community, emotional, and financial well-being. Interconnected to other divisions and departments, including Academic and Student Affairs, Student Life, the University Wellness Center, the Division of Inclusive Excellence Community and Belonging, and other campus partners, the Center for Well-Being aims to assist campus constituents to develop adaptive skills and habits and live out their values, beyond their tenure at Rowan University. Through programming in the form of workshops, presentations, and awareness campaigns to educate staff, students, and faculty, the Center for Well-Being implements evidence-based practices to inform the Center’s offerings. The Center for Well-Being actively engages with internal and external scholars and researchers to help deepen the Center’s understanding of the science of well-being.
By adopting the Okanagan Charter’s two calls to action for health-promoting colleges and universities, we aim to embed health and well-being into all aspects of campus culture. This commitment is a testament to our dedication to the holistic development of all students, staff, and faculty. Our strategic priorities include:

Embracing well-being across six dimensions to actualize human potential: emotionally, communally, purposefully, financially, socially, and physically, is the foundation in which we recognize the inherent worth of every person and seek to provide the necessary conditions to maximize optimal health for all. We believe when people’s basic needs are met in the environment in which they learn and work, their lived experiences across identities are honored and affirmed as global citizens, and they are provided with opportunities to explore and develop their sense of self, they can reach their full potential.
