About Mayra: I have had the pleasure of working in higher education for over 18 years; initially at Cumberland County College and then I joined Rowan University in 2006. While at Rowan, I have worked as an Assistant Director in the Office of Admissions, an EOF Advisor/Counselor, and as an Academic Advisor for Law & Justice Studies and Sociology/Anthropology. In my current role I am the Transfer Services Coordinator and I also enjoy teaching Rowan 101 and Introduction to Sociology.

As an undergraduate, I too was a transfer, first-generation and EOF student. My academic background includes a B.S in Social Work and a M.S in Human Service Administration. Prior to working in higher education, I was a Social Worker in the Maternal Child Health field and as a School Counselor. I served my community as an elected School Board Member and Councilwoman for almost 15 years. I enjoy spending my free time with my daughter, teaching spin at our local YMCA, biking and traveling.
