We aim to ensure that every student has equitable access to transformative career services, events, and programming, fostering holistic development and successful transitions from academia to the workforce.
Our services encompass personalized career counseling, resume and interview preparation, and job search strategies, equipping students with the skills and confidence to navigate the competitive job market. We take pride in organizing diverse and engaging events that are committed to inclusivity, and recognizing the unique needs and aspirations of each student.

Andrew Duffy
Andrew Duffy is a seasoned HR professional with over 20 years of experience in career development, talent acquisition, and human resource management across higher education and corporate environments. He earned a Master of Education from Slippery Rock University and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Grove City College. As the Associate Director of the Office of Career Advancement at Rowan University, Andrew bridges the gap between industry and talent, facilitating meaningful connections that lead to internships and full-time career opportunities for students.
Altonia Bryant, MA, MS
Altonia Bryant serves as the Associate Director of Career Planning at Rowan University, holding a Master of Arts in Arts Administration from Rowan University (2019) and a Master of Science in College Student Affairs from Nova Southeastern University (2011). With over 11 years of expertise in career development and student services, Altonia guides students in identifying career pathways aligned with their chosen majors, equipping them with the resources and tools necessary for successful engagement with employers. Collaborating closely with academic departments and other student services units, Altonia plays a pivotal role in planning and executing an array of career-related programming and events. These include in-class presentations, industry nights, career fairs, networking events, panels, and more, fostering a comprehensive approach to career development.
Karen Siefring, MA
Karen T. Siefring is an Assistant Director in the Office of Career Advancement on the Employer Relations Team. She has taught for the Rohrer College of Business, University College, and the College of Communications. She has her master’s degree from Rowan University (GSC) and her undergraduate degree from Douglass College, Rutgers University. She is a first-generation college student. She is involved with the American Federation of Teachers at both the state and local level, is a board member for the EDIFI Credit Union and is co-program chair for Club Gourmet. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, crafting, reading, theater, movies, binge-watching TV and her puppy, Bella.Helen Cardoso, M.Ed.
Helen Cardoso is the Assistant Director of Career Access and Engagement at Rowan University, where she is committed to guiding students on their journey to discovering meaningful career paths. With a Master's degree in Higher Education from Wilmington University and a Bachelor's degree in Psychological Science from Rowan University, she brings a wealth of academic knowledge and practical experience to her role. As a first-generation student who walked the halls of Rowan University, she understands the unique challenges and opportunities students face as they navigate their academic and professional pursuits. Her si, tu puedes (yes, you can) attitude empowers students with the tools, resources, and guidance to explore various career options, develop essential skills, and ultimately achieve their goals. Whether through one-on-one counseling, workshops, or networking events, she is dedicated to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.
Shirley Farrar, MA, CCC, MS
Shirley Farrar is a Certified Career Counselor through the National Career Development Association. Eight years as a Career Counselor at Rowan University, she is also an alumnus, with an MA in Counseling in Educational Settings 2018, an MA in Higher Education in Administration 2009, and a BA in Psychology. She facilitates as a university instructor, teaching career readiness workshops, one-on-one exploration of career self-assessments, and a Career Planning & Development course. Combining 16 years' experience educating higher education students in career counseling and community advisement, Shirley is experienced in presenting at webinars and conferences. She values life balance, working within the higher education community, and contributing to her local and faith-based communities. Holding an office as a 501c3 non-profit president and community advisor, Shirley understands the importance of helping students transition to the world of work and assisting alumni in their career journey.
Deniz Dennery, BS
With her BS in Political Science from the University of Utah, Deniz's interest in working overseas led her to join the Foreign Service. She honed her communications and problem-solving skills working in a variety of environments including a busy 700 room Manhattan hotel with heavy international clientele, the Turkish Embassy, the U.S. State Department and the American Embassy in Paris. Deniz’ adaptability to various work environments over the years allowed her to be successful in administrative and liaison roles within government, healthcare, advertising, higher education and career development growth for students. Deniz is currently working as Program Assistant in Rowan University’s Office of Career Advancement, where she is a cheerleader for student employment. Deniz is the lead in managing career fair events, the Federal Work Study program with off-campus non-profit employers and Rowan’s electronic job site “ProfsJobs” to support students and alumni in their professional journey.
