Altonia Bryant, MA, MS
Altonia Bryant serves as the Associate Director of Career Planning at Rowan University, holding a Master of Arts in Arts Administration from Rowan University (2019) and a Master of Science in College Student Affairs from Nova Southeastern University (2011). With over 11 years of expertise in career development and student services, Altonia employs diverse career and student development theories to spearhead initiatives targeting the career readiness of students from various backgrounds. At Rowan University, Altonia guides students in identifying career pathways aligned with their chosen majors, equipping them with the resources and tools necessary for successful engagement with employers. Collaborating closely with academic departments and other student services units, Altonia plays a pivotal role in planning and executing an array of career-related programming and events. These include in-class presentations, industry nights, career fairs, networking events, panels, and more, fostering a comprehensive approach to career development. Outside of Career Development, Altonia's professional background extends into various realms, including Academic Advising, Orientation, Assessment and Institutional Effectiveness, Recruitment and Retention, Student Life and Leadership, Testing, and Academic Event Programming and Planning.
Helen Cardoso, M.Ed.
Helen Cardoso serves as the Assistant Director of Career Access and Engagement at Rowan University, where she is committed to guiding students on their journey to discovering meaningful career paths. With a Master's degree in Higher Education from Wilmington University and a Bachelor's degree in Psychological Science from Rowan University, she brings a wealth of academic knowledge and practical experience to her role. As a first-generation student having walked the halls of Rowan University, she understands the unique challenges and opportunities students face as they navigate their academic and professional pursuits. Her si, tu puedes (yes, you can) attitude empowers students with the tools, resources, and guidance to explore various career options, develop essential skills, and ultimately achieve their goals. Whether through one-on-one counseling, workshops, or networking events, she is dedicated to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where every student can thrive. Shirley Farrar, MA, CCC, MS
Shirley Farrar is a Certified Career Counselor through the National Career Development Association, an alumnus of Rowan University, with two master's and a bachelor's degree. Facilitates as a university instructor, teaching a Career Planning & Development course in addition to teaching career readiness workshops, exploration of career-self assessments, experienced webinar and conference speaker, and participates in university IRB research. Holding an office as a community leader, Shirley understands the importance of helping students transition to the world of work, and alumni to their next step in their career path.
Allison Gainer, MA
Allison Gainer serves as a dedicated Career Counselor at Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ, where she merges her extensive background in education and mental health with a fervent commitment to career development. Her expertise lies in helping individuals find career paths that resonate with their personal morals, values, and unique skill sets. As a first-generation college graduate, Allison brings a deep understanding and empathy to her work, especially in guiding and mentoring underrepresented groups with cultural sensitivity and competence. She is currently enhancing her professional capabilities by pursuing an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership, with a focus on lifelong career advocacy and development. Beyond her role in career counseling, Allison is an ardent advocate for neurodiversity. She is devoted to continuous personal and professional learning and is committed to aiding diverse populations in discovering their potential, balancing mental health and career aspirations, and igniting their passion in their chosen fields.
