What ages can participate?
Voyagers program is for rising grades 7–9. Navigators program is for rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Pathfinders program an advanced research-focused track for rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors.
Will I earn college credit after completing this program?
Our Navigator and Pathfinder students take a college course during the duration of the two week program. After the completion of the college course, yes, you will earn 2-3, fully transferable college credits. When applying to colleges and universites you will need to submit your Rowan transcript to show proof of the college course you took during STEAM Academy.
Please note, Voyagers do not earn college credit during this program.
What college courses are offered?
The below college courses are fffered to navigators and pathfinders.
Leading Among Diverse Perspectives (Education)
This course focuses on understanding that leadership requires recognizing and valuing the differences that exist among people as employees, colleagues, and team members. These differences result people bringing various perspectives and approaches to professional environments. The course provides an understanding of the historical and current experiences of groups in society and the contributions of those groups in organizations. Additionally, the course focuses on inclusive and collaborative leadership approaches.
Java Development
This course emphasizes algorithmic solutions of problems. The syntax of the programming language is also studied, as well as the writing of structured code.
Engineers of the Future
An introduction to the practice of engineering through authentic, multidisciplinary problems and projects. Sustainability is used to demonstrate the broader context of engineering work.
How many students do you accept?
For our Voyagers program we typically accept about 30 students. For our Navigators and Pathfinders program we typically accept about 90-120 students.
How will I be notified if accepted?
STEAM Academy accepts sudents on a rolling basis. You will be notified via e-mail once your application is complete. If you are interested in the status of the applicaiton please reach out to CosgroveM@rowan.edu or call 856-256-5242.
How do I make payment?
If accepted, you will recieve paymnet details in the e-mail. Voyager families will receive a link to make payment through our online portal. Navigation and Pathfinders students will recieve directions on how to activate their student accounts and make payments through the Bursrars office using self-service banner.
Do you award scholarships?
At this time we do not.
