STEAM Academy
STEAM Academy
Dive into a college education this summer with Rowan University's top faculty, and earn college credits!
STEAM Academy will run from July 10th to 22nd with two options for enrollment:
Residential, 2 weeks
This program provides students with the closest thing to a college experience. They will move into their dorm room on Sunday, July 10th, then experience a three credit college class and daily academic workshops. Students will take field trips to places like the Edelman Fossil Park, the Pine Barrens, and Edelman Planetarium plus local cultural centers. The program culminates in a graduation ceremony on July 22nd at 5:00pm where students give final presentations of the work they have done during their time at STEAM Academy. Cost: $2,400 per student
Daily Commuter, 9:00am-12:30pm
This program gives students the flexibility to earn college credits without the commitment of staying on campus. Students are able to come to class from 9:00am-12:30pm Monday through Friday from July 11-15 and July 18-22. By the end of their time at Rowan University, three fully transferrable credits will have been earned. A field trip may be required outside of class time based on instructor assignments, tbd. Students do not participate in the afternoon workshops or weekend activities that the Residential option provides. Cost: $1,200 per student
About STEAM Academy
Mission
The purpose of Rowan University’s STEAM Academy is to educate and empower 21st century students in order to prepare them for a successful college and career path. We aim to provide multiple pathways to higher education for students with varying abilities and interests. We are committed to providing purposeful and engaging educational experiences as well as valuing the diversity of all students.
STEM + Art = STEAM
Rowan University’s STEAM Academy features instruction and presentations by top faculty whose diverse curriculum better prepares students for college and career paths in one of the fastest growing segments of today’s economy. What makes Rowan University’s STEAM Academy unique is the pairing of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) with art, design, culture and humanities to provide an even more well-rounded experience.
The Academy
Open to students entering grades 7 through 12, the STEAM Academy combines academic excellence and engaging extracurricular activities with supportive guidance and supervision. With three distinct program options, the STEAM Academy offers students the opportunity to experience college life while preparing them for their futures. Students will gain valuable insight and practical tools that will better equip them to achieve their personal, educational and career goals. We have recently been rated top 30 pre-college summer programs for 2019 through College Consensus.
What to Expect
With a day-only program and two different residential programs, our three-week long STEAM Academy exposes high school students to college campus life while immersing them in STEAM-focused learning experiences and field trips. Residential students stay in supervised, on-campus housing, dine in Rowan’s cafeteria and at local restaurants, and enjoy our Recreation Center. Upon successful completion of the program, residential program students earn three transferable, college-level Rowan University credits.
