Faculty who teach in-person, non-medical undergraduate and graduate students now have the option to begin creating individual course shells or request the crosslist of multiple courses. Refer to the Canvas: Request Course Shell Knowledge Base article for information on how to create the Canvas course shell. Note course shells are automatically published and are available to students 5 days before the start of the semester.

The remote proctoring software, Proctorio, is available for online examinations. If an instructor wants to utilize the remote proctoring software in their course section in Canvas, the instructor of record must complete the Rowan Online – Exam Proctoring Request form for Summer 2024.
Requests for remote automated proctoring for session types day, evening, or weekend will require approval from the department or college responsible for the course. Those departments or colleges will be charged per student, per proctored assessment in each course section. Written approval from the authorized person to approve budget expenses in your department or college should be acquired before submitting this form. The deadline for requests is Thursday, May 2, 2024.

Beginning April 11, 2024, users will be required to acknowledge a Kaltura media disclaimer when uploading media to MediaSpace, or the Kaltura Media Gallery in Canvas. Upon upload users will be presented with this disclaimer granting permission to utilize Kaltura hosting, storage and digital distribution services in accordance with Rowan University’s Copyright Policy for Online Education and all other applicable RU policies. Noticeable changes include placement of My Media in the Global Navigation menu and movement of Media Gallery in the course navigation.
Canvas has announced new interface updates of the Discussions and Announcements tools. The updates are currently available in Canvas as a feature preview and will be pushed into production for all Canvas instances Summer of 2024. For Rowan University, the change will take effect on May 13, 2024. If you would like to test these updates earlier, make a request to the Support Center asking for it to be enabled in your Canvas shell ahead of May 13th.

Provisional Course Shells for 10-month FacultyTen-month faculty who wish to prepare their Fall course shells in June may submit a request before June 30, 2024 to have a Provisional Course shell created. Provisional Course shells will provide 10-month faculty with the ability to prepare for the fall semester within the contract expirations timeframe. If you are not a 10-month Rowan University faculty member, or if you miss the early provisional course period, then you can follow the standard procedure for course export which becomes available Aug 1st.
