Participating in Commencement

Commencement Ceremonies are held once a year in May. 

Students must register to participate in commencement.  Registration will open February 1, 2021 at 9 a.m. The deadline to register is March 3, 2021.

*Eligibility criteria for Commencement Participants:

  • Students who have been awarded their degree(s)
  • Students who apply for Spring Graduation by the deadline of February 26, 2021

Students may be eligible to participate in the Commencement Ceremonies with **outstanding degree requirements:

  • Undergraduate students must be within 20 credit hours of graduating
  • Graduate students (Master’s level only) must be within 6 credit hours of graduating

** Outstanding degree requirements (undergraduate and graduate) to be completed in the Summer/Fall terms

Important to note:

  • Commencement participation registration will open February 1, 2021 at 9 a.m. Registration closes at the end of the day, March 3, 2021.
  • Students eligible to participate in the Commencement Ceremonies with **outstanding degree requirements must register to participate in commencement by the March 3, 2021 deadline in order to have their name included in the printed program.
  • Ed.D./Doctoral students may not participate in the Commencement Ceremonies unless they have successfully defended their dissertation and received approval prior to the ceremonies.
  • You are automatically eligible to participate in a future May commencement ceremony following the completion of your degree requirements, should you not wish to participate prior to completing your requirements.

Questions about participating in commencement?

Please note, participating in a Commencement ceremony does not mean that you have graduated. Degree conferral (graduation) occurs when all requirements are completed and an Application for Graduation has been submitted to the Office of the Registrar.
