upBEAT: Change The Rhythm Of Your Life
Let’s face it, life is stressful in the best of times. Today, more than ever we need to utilize unconventional ways to bring some peace and mindfulness to our lives. Rowan students heard the call and answered with UpBeat. UpBeat is a wellness initiative started by Rowan Nutrition students on behalf of faculty and staff amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Rowan community has seen an increased need for self care and wellness - including faculty and staff. While Rowan Thrive is well equipped to handle wellness with robust programming for a variety of challenges for students, faculty and staff were left without adequate resources. Isolation, lack of exercise, weight gain, extreme stress and anxiety are factors that affect faculty and staff alike. We all need help at one point or another. While Covid changed access to traditional outlets, it created the opportunity for initiatives like Upbeat - a completely online, self-directed learning about wellness.
UpBeat is filled with self-paced videos to help get you centered and ready to move forward. Stressed about a mid-term? (Yes, faculty and staff feel the stress, too!) Watch a meditation video. Work problems? Watch a cooking video and put it out of your mind for a little while. Feeling a little sluggish just from sitting? We’ve all been there. Watch a yoga video and stretch your way to feeling better. These videos are meant to be viewable in the privacy of one’s own office, home or even car.
