Virtual Planetarium Shows
Explore space from your classroom or home. The planetarium offers virtual planetarium shows for groups of 15 or more!
Public and private schools can book a free virtual planetarium field trip to experience the wonder of the night sky from the classroom. Using our state-of-the-art planetarium software, we will explore the simulated night sky to view planets, constellations, and more! Each presentation will last approximately one hour and will include time for questions.
Plan Your Visit
Virtual field trips to the Edelman Planetarium last one hour and include two sections: a live, interactive, inquiry-based exploration of the universe, including planets, constellations, and more, and time for questions. Virtual field trips are not recommended for preschool or kindergarten classes.
We request a minimum of 15 people. Virtual field trips can be projected in classrooms or auditoriums, or students can join individually on their laptops (or both!). A maximum of 300 people can log in to each show.
We recommend the room be as dark as possible from wherever you join us. We also encourage turning on webcams so we can see the students' faces. Our shows are highly interactive, and those elements are facilitated better when we can see the kids.
Thanks to a generous and ongoing donation by Ric and Jean Edelman, schools can attend a field trip at no cost.

When should I contact the Planetarium to schedule a show?
Reservations must be made at least three weeks before your earliest preferred visit date. You may request a show up to one year in advance.
All field trips, including virtual ones, are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. The earlier you book, the better your chance of getting your preferred date or time. April and May are our busiest months. We strongly encourage booking your spring field trip as soon as possible to guarantee a space.
What is the cost?
Free! Thanks to our founders' generous and ongoing donation, public and private schools may visit the Edelman Planetarium at no charge.
Other groups, including homeschools, scouts, daycares, summer camps, etc., can reserve a virtual show for $50.
