Showing Our Appreciation

On Dec. 13, 2012, the University honored Henry Rowan with the unveiling of a seven-foot sculpture of him in front of Savitz Hall on Rt. 322 on the main campus in Glassboro. Commissioned by the Rowan University Foundation, the sculpture reflects Henry Rowan as he was in 1992 when he and his wife made the largest gift to date to a public college or university.

A modest man in spite of his accomplishments, Mr. Rowan reluctantly agreed to have his likeness created. "I wasn't keen on being cast in bronze at first," he said, "but I understand how it's a good idea for the university to commemorate what we did together. I especially enjoyed visiting the foundry to see the bronze poured from our Inductotherm 1,000 lb. furnace. Having some of our family and Inductotherm team there to watch the pour was meaningful to me in that they don't get to see our equipment in action hardly at all."
