Suicide Prevention and Mental Wellbeing Trainings and Events

Events Open to All Rowan Students, Faculty, and Staff

The Rowan University Wellness Center will hold a Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) Suicide Prevention Training on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 from 3pm to 4:30pm; and Thursday, October 19, 2023 from 9am to 10:30am in Winans Hall, located on the Glassboro campus. The training session is cost-free and open to all students, faculty, and staff from all Rowan colleges and schools including the Rowan–Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine (Rowan–Virtua SOM) and Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU).

QPR is an evidence-based training that works to help all people recognize when someone is experiencing a suicidal crisis, and gives all people tools to help others experiencing a suicidal crisis obtain the resources that they need. It is not clinical counseling or treatment for suicide prevention—rather, it intends to offer hope through positive actions. By learning QPR, everyone can recognize the warning signs and suicidal communications of people at-risk, and gain skills to act swiftly to prevent a potential tragedy.

The QPR Suicide Prevention Training at Rowan is facilitated by Allie Pearce, Assistant Director of Health Innovation and Quality Assurance at the Rowan Wellness Center in Glassboro. For more information about the training session, visit the Rowan Campus Labs website for details and registration, or email Allie Pearce for more information and about upcoming training sessions at pearce@rowan.edu.
