DEI Champion Spotlight: Georgia Majka

The DEI Champion Spotlight features Rowan community members who are leading the way in DEI initiatives across campus. Champions featured in the spotlight serve as a great example of how DEI can be reflected throughout the campus. Meet Georgia Majka, a Master's student in Higher Education and intern for the Autism Path Program at Rowan University.

A faculty member nominated a staff member, sharing, "Georgia is dedicated to being an advocate and strives to be both culturally aware and inclusive. Georgia's passion for assisting students greatly impacts students' Rowan experience, which continues far beyond campus. In addition to Georgia's dedication to students, they are also a full-time graduate student"

Tell us about yourself:

My name is Georgia, and I am a second-year graduate student in the Higher Education Administration Masters Program. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies from Marietta College, OH. I followed my passion for working with students with disabilities and decided to pursue my Master's in Higher Education at Rowan. Since then, I have been interning with the Autism PATH Program on campus. I am so thankful for this experience and look forward to my future in Higher Education.

Why is DEI Work Important?

I personally believe that DEI is very important and especially in Higher Education. Advocacy for our students and peers shows that success in education is valued, and we strive to create a welcoming space for everyone. Everyone’s journey looks different, but I  always remind students at the end of the day, they are still the same awesome person they were yesterday.
