Search Committee Bias Training
DEI is offering the Search Committee Bias Training, and for the month of October, any of the dates below will count towards ompleition of the DEI Certificate (Module 1.5.).
Goals: create a student support action plan that focuses on (1) increasing enrollment from underrepresented groups (2) increasing 4 – 5 graduate rates of Black and Latinx-a-o students (3) increasing job placement after graduation for students of underrepresented groups
Strategic Action Plan Updates
DEI is reviewing the plans and will be providing feedback soon
DEI encourages departments/colleges to begin acting on action plans and any feedback they provide will enhance what you have already begun working on
Neurodiversity Task Force Updates
Integration of working with Rowan College at Burlington County (RCBC) and Rowan College at South Jersey (RCSJ) and with medical schools
The Neurodiversity task force is working to enhance the DEI Certificate to include neurodiversity and developing the Inclusive Pedagogy Certificate in Spring 2021
DEI Department Updates
ASCEND AND CHAMP
ASCEND is the newest member of the Greater Philadelphia Louis Stokes Alliance, a coalition of regional college and university educators whose work is to increase access to a four-year STEM degree.The Alliance received a $3.2 million National Science Foundation grant in August that will help fund research and access initiatives over the next five years at key Philadelphia-area colleges and universities. CHAMP celebrated their virtual kick-off and will resume Saturday academies for college preparation and readiness on October 10th.
