SJICR Sensory Room

The Office of Social Justice, Inclusion, and Conflict Resolution is excited to announce that we will now be offering a sensory room in Hawthorne Hall room 202. The goal of the sensory safe room is to provide anyone who may require a low stimulating environment with a space to decompress, stim, and soothe while in a safe and affirming atmosphere. In the sensory safe room, community members will find a multitude of items to target sensory sensitivity and overload. Visitors can regulate sound, light, color and tactile input in the room with battery operated candles, stim toys, slimes, color changing light fixtures, ear plugs, and an unbreakable mirror. The room will be available on a first come, first serve basis during our operational business hours of Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
