The massive redevelopment project gets started with public-private partnerships formed to better blend campus with borough businesses, create housing for students and residents and become a regional destination. The vision includes creating a new pedestrian-friendly avenue stretching a third of a mile from the campus’ eastern edge to the center of downtown to be lined with shops and restaurants on the street level, topped by apartments and offices.
