Having won the state competition and its $6 million grant to support innovation and technology, Rowan also attracted private support for the development of its West Campus and celebrated ribbon-cutting at the Samuel H. Jones Innovation Center. The local businessman, fifth from right, above, donated $1 million to support the facility.
The two-story, 45,000-square-foot Center is home to sponsored research for such organizations as the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation and NASA, research that puts professors and students on the cutting edge of technology and opens doors for Rowan graduates.
The facility also was developed to support budding entrepreneurs, start-ups and established companies working to bring innovative technologies to the marketplace and to spin them off into independent firms.
