A 1989 graduate with a degree in Business Administration, Anthony (Tony) Galvin serves on the Rowan University Foundation Board and the Rohrer College of Business (RCB) Dean’s Advisory Council where he’d heard about an idea: 50 suits for 50 students as part of the RCB’s 50th anniversary celebration this year. The only problem – it wasn’t clear how the suit program would be funded. So, Galvin said he’d pay for it himself, and promptly wrote a check for $15,000.

Top prize for Rohrer New Venture Competition expands to $30,000
Funding for Rowan University’s Rohrer New Venture Competition (NVC) expands this year with a top prize of $30,000, the most ever awarded to a Rowan student start-up. Held each April, the NVC encourages entrepreneurial start-ups across the University and awards winners with capital funding to help launch their business. With the additional equity investment from the Rowan Innovation Venture Fund (RIVF), financial support for the winning student company expanded from a $4,000 top prize in 2022.
Day of Giving 2023 raises nearly $315,000, crushing previous totals
Rowan University’s Day of Giving, a 24-hour fundraising sprint, generated $314,672—and counting!— from individual gifts, topping last year’s total by nearly $40,000. In all, 2,326 gifts were received from students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents and friends of the University.

“Beyond the Brown & Gold” – Advancement partners with WGLS-FM to highlight alumni stories
In fall 2022, the Division of University Advancement partnered with Rowan Radio to develop a brand new alumni podcast, “Beyond the Brown & Gold.” The podcast and radio show is a twice monthly program on 89.7 WGLS-FM, hosted by University Advancement’s Jessica Kanady ’08, M’15 and Rob Lightfoot ’00, M’01.

P.O.P. & Circumstance: New ‘Pride of the Profs’ marching band honors donor with flash mob
John H. Martinson got a surprise performance from College of Performing Arts students to celebrate and recognize the generous multi-six-figure gift he made in 2022, which will make the launch of the “Pride of the Profs” Marching Band possible. Also in 2022, Martinson made a blockbuster $5 million gift in support of Rowan’s Honors College, which was renamed in his honor.
