James George, MD, JD, FACEP
James E. George joined the Rowan University Foundation Board of Directors in 2014.
Dr. George currently serves as Strategic Advisor to the President of TeamHealth, and previously served as president of TeamHealth East from 1978–2014. He has been a practicing emergency physician, ED Chair and former Board Member of the American College of Emergency Physicians. He is also an attorney and is certified as a Diplomat of the American Board of Law and Medicine and as a Fellow of the American College of Legal Medicine.
Active in numerous professional and trade associations, Dr. George is a national authority on the medico-legal aspects of emergency care. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Emergency Medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP). He is former president of the New Jersey chapter of ACEP. In 2003 Dr. George was selected to receive the New Jersey ACEP Distinguished Service Award, which is presented annually to an ACEP member who has contributed outstanding service to the NJ chapter by providing significant help in achieving one or more of the chapter’s goals and objectives.
Dr. George serves on the Board of Trustees for Inspira Hospitals, Inc. He also serves as a Trustee of the Magee Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation Board and as a Board Member of the Adam Taliaferro Foundation. Dr. George survived a life-altering spinal cord injury in 2016, and art therapy has become a passionate part of his recovery. Many of his abstract paintings hang on the walls of Magee Rehabilitation Hospital as well as Inspira Medical Center – Mullica Hill.
Dr. George earned an A.B. from Columbia University, an M.D. from University of Louisville School of Medicine and a J.D. from University of Louisville School of Law.
