Blackbaud Data Breach
Blackbaud Data Breach
Regarding the Blackbaud Data Breach
Blackbaud, a leading software and service provider, recently reported it was targeted in a security incident that exposed data hosted in cloud-based systems used by hundreds of institutions, including Rowan University, for philanthropic activities.
No credit card information, bank account information, or social security numbers were exposed during this incident, according to Blackbaud. The incident occurred between February 2020 and May 2020, and the company reported the incident to Rowan University in July 2020. Based on internal research and a third-party investigation that included law enforcement, Blackbaud said it has no reason to believe that any of the exposed data “was or will be misused.”

While Blackbaud has concluded that financial information should not be at risk, Rowan University takes the protection and proper use of any donor information very seriously. The data that was exposed included names, ages, addresses and wealth information for prospective donors. Rowan University has had multiple conversations with Blackbaud about this serious matter and their handling of data. In addition, we are continuing to monitor the situation closely, and we will provide updated notifications, as necessary, on this site.
Rowan University is providing this notice out of an abundance of caution and to provide our donors and prospective donors with the opportunity to better protect themselves from cybercrime. All individuals affected by the Blackbaud data breach have been notified directly by the University. If you have not been contacted, but you think you may have been affected, we advise you to remain vigilant and report any issues you suspect may be related to the Blackbaud data breach to us via the contact information below.
