Rowan Core

Rowan Core

Rowan Core is Rowan University's general education program. Rowan Core is the product of years of collaborative planning, beginning with the articulation of six literacies with goals and outcomes for each, and progressing to a University Senate proposal that established the foundation of the program. While Rowan Core is the general education program, students develop the Rowan Core literacies not only in their general education courses but in their major coursework as well.

For information about Rowan Core, including how to create or modify an existing course's outcomes or assessment plan, see the University Senate Learning Assessment and Rowan Core Committee.

The Office of Assessment coordinates the assessment of Rowan Core as well as writing intensive (WI) and broad-based literature (LIT) courses, which also assess Rowan Core outcomes.

Rowan Core Outcomes

Each of the six literacies has outcomes that students achieve in their Rowan Core, Rowan Experience, and major courses.
