HelioCampus

HelioCampus is Rowan University's assessment management system.  Undergraduate and master's degree programs use the system to collect, analyze, and report student learning data.

Logging in to HelioCampus

HelioCampus can be found at https://assessment.rowan.edu. Faculty responsible for their programs’ curricula and assessment use Heliocampus to create and modify their curriculum maps and analyze and report student learning data.

Faculty and staff who are unable to log in can contact the Director of Assessment at bonfield@rowan.edu. Most faculty do not need to log into Heliocampus, as they enter student learning data directly in their Canvas course shells.

Curriculum Mapping

HelioCampus has a powerful curriculum mapping tool. A curriculum map is a way to show how student learning outcomes are developed across the curriculum. Faculty examine their curricula to determine what outcome(s) are developed in each course and at what level. They then map the individual courses’ objectives to program’s student learning outcomes.

Collection of Direct Assessment Data

HelioCampus enables faculty to link key course assignments in Canvas to the course’s objectives in HelioCampus. Those course objectives are mapped to program outcomes as part of each program’s curriculum map. In this way, students’ performance on key course assignments enable faculty to assess both the course objectives and the mapped program outcomes. This provides faculty with rich data on which program outcomes students are attaining at a sufficient level and which are causing students difficulty. Faculty then use these data to modify their curricula and pedagogy to better support their students’ learning.
