How do I call for an ambulance in an emergency?
If you are experiencing an emergency, call 911 or, if you are on campus, call Public Safety at 856-256-4911. Be sure to state the type of emergency and include your specific location, including building and room number, street, landmark, etc. to ensure that you are quickly located.
What hospital will I be taken to?
Hospitals are decided based on patient's condition and existing medical issues. We generally transport to the closest appropriate facility. Out primary hospital is Inspira Medical Center in Mullica Hill. We also transport patients to Jefferson in Washington Township and Inspira Medical Center in Elmer. All trauma patients are transported to Cooper University Hospital in Camden.
Can I request a specific hospital?
You may request a specific hospital if it is one of our primary destinations. If you have an existing medical condition that requires specialized treatment, we may be able to transport to a facility that is no more than 40 minutes away. This is dependent on patient condition at the time of transport.
Will the ambulance take me to urgent care?
No. Ambulances are prohibited, by state regulations, from transporting patients to facilities other than a hospital. You can request transport to the closest urgent care by calling 856-256-4922.
Will I be charged a fee for services provided by Rowan EMS?
No. Emergency and non-emergency transport services are provided free-of-charge. As a student service, our operating budget is provided by Student Government Association (SGA) and Wellness Center funding.
