Reminders for Returning to Rowan 2021: Together We Thrive
Our world changed in March 2020. We found our daily rhythms uprooted and replaced with uncertainty. Looking forward to the fall semester, Rowan University plans for a “return to normal”. What does this mean for you? How can you prepare? Here are some action items you can work on to put your best foot forward in September. We don’t want you to simply survive the transition back to campus, we want you to Thrive!
What does it mean to thrive at Rowan University? Rowan Thrive is the University’s commitment to helping our students, faculty and staff be their best self. The well-being dimensions look and feel different for everyone but together, they work towards creating a fully engaged balance of life, work, and school. Rowan Thrive!
It’s likely you had some or all classes in a virtual format last year. Remember, you will need additional time to pack up and head to class. If driving to campus, you may want to map out your commute to know how long it will take to get to campus, find parking, and reach your classroom! If living on campus, your commute time may be shorter but you may want to grab a meal along the way and it will still take time to get to class.
⇒ Take a walk around campus! If you are within driving distance, pick a day to visit. Bring a copy of your fall schedule and use this map to find your classrooms. Knowing where to go on the first day will be a comfort on what is sure to be an eventful week.
⇒ Too busy or too far away? Take a virtual tour
⇒ Were you virtual last year and have never been to campus? Consider scheduling a tour!
⇒ Campus Recreation - The department is ready to welcome you this fall! Check the website for hours of operation, upcoming events, clubs, and more!

The Pandemic taught us resiliency. We have learned new technologies like Zoom, WebEx, etc. Rowan plans to incorporate these into student activities programming. The fall semester will allow us even more ways to connect with each other. If you found yourself limited with social opportunities last year, you are not alone! This fall, there will be countless ways to make friends and new connections. For a preview, check out ProfLink!
⇒ Other options to engage include the many activities provided through Rowan After Hours and Student University Programmers.
Who could have guessed back in February 2020 how impactful COVID-19 would be on our lives? The virtual experience changed our lives, and there will likely also be emotional challenges associated with returning to campus. Rowan University has numerous support systems in place to assist you through this transition. Here are a few ways you can prepare for the fall semester.
⇒ Wellness Center - The Wellness Center is a fully integrated health and wellness facility for Rowan University students. Check out the website for additional details!
⇒ Do you have a calendar or other planning system? If not, Rowan Planners will be available to all students for FREE! You may also want to look into using a virtual calendar system (i.e. Google calendar, iPhone calendar or app). It doesn’t matter what you choose to use, just be sure to find something that works for your needs. Using a planning system can help you break down large tasks and assignments and stay on top of meetings, appointments, and more.
