What service opportunities are there with the Student Scholars Symposium?

Are There Service Opportunities Available with the
Student Scholars Symposium?

Yes there are!

The Student Scholars Symposium is possible only because of the help and broad-based participation from across the University. No support means no Symposium, so it is important to mention that this year's event arises from the efforts of many people.  This includes numerous University offices and also the direct assistance by Rowan students!

This year we will need student help with the following items: (1) publicity for the Symposium; (2) fundraising for the Symposium such as our participation in the annual RowanGIVES campaign; (3) set-up for the Symposium the evening before the event; (4) final set-up work on the morning of the Symposium; and (5) clean-up immediately after the Symposium.  Watch the Rowan Daily News in your email inbox for an announcement about our new Proflink address!

Student organizations (including SGA chartered and petitioning organizations and Greek organizations) that help with the Student Scholars Symposium can receive service project recognition. If you know of student groups that are interested in helping out, please have them get in touch with the Student Coordinators. All student groups are welcome to help out, and groups affiliated with academic Departments and Programs are especially encouraged to participate.  We provide service letters to groups that provide support for the Symposium.

Acknowledgments of everybody who helps out with the Symposium will be available in the STEM Abstract Booklet.
Student groups that provide financial assistance receive advertising space in the Student Scholars Symposium booklet.

Mahaa Ahmed, Ian Dunn, Matthew Heisler, John Schneider, and Alexander Weisberger will be returning as Symposium Student Coordinators for the current year.  Additional Student Coordinators from outside the STEM disciplines will be announced soon!  The STEM Student Coordinators can be contacted via Proflink (new link coming soon).
