How Do I Set Up My Symposium Presentation?

How Do I Set Up My Symposium Presentation?

How Do I Set Up My
Student Scholars Symposium

What is the format for my POSTER presentation?
For most disciplines, your RUSSS presentation will be in the form of a poster. Each abstract will receive one poster space (6 ft. high x 3 ft. wide).  Because the display spaces are flush with the floor, we are recommending that posters be sized to 4 ft. high x 3 ft. wide.
Last year, some people hung posters wider than 3 feet.  Many of these posters surled around the presentation board, and therefore intruded onto the presentation space of the person presenting on the other side of the board.  Please be considerate of your "Symposium neighbors" and limit your posters to 3 feet wide!
Dr. Kay (Computer Science Dept.) has set up a nifty page to help students learn how to design an effective poster presentation.

How do I hang my poster?
The poster presentation spaces are fabric-covered boards.  Pushpins will be provided.

What if I am giving a reading or performance at the Symposium?
Please watch this space for information about non-poster presentations at the Student Scholars Symposium.

How do I know which session I am presenting? How do I know which poster space is mine?
After the abstract submission deadline passes, you will receive an email with instructions for accessing the RUSSS Post-Submission Packet. The Packet will include useful information, including how to determine your session time and poster space number.
When you arrive at the Symposium to set up your poster, look at the top of the poster spaces for your poster space number. Set up your poster at the space that has your poster number on it.

Is there any judging? Are there any prizes?
The purpose of the Student Scholars Symposium is to provide the maximum number of students the opportunity to present their work and to learn how to communicate in professional venue.  The Symposium does not sponsor any sort of official judging or award program.
