Esports at Rowan University

Rowan University and Nerd Street Gamers have entered into a unique partnership that will lead to the development of one of the region’s largest collegiate esports gaming and academic programs.

Nerd Street Gamers will invest more than $1 million in the construction and development of a 7,500-square-foot gaming facility on Rowan Boulevard in Glassboro that also will include a broadcast studio and other amenities for use in collaboration with the University.

Rowan will work collaboratively with Nerd Street Gamers to develop curricula relating to the esports industry, establish internship opportunities, and enhance the development of competitive esports teams who will compete under the umbrella of sport clubs at Rowan University.

Will there be esports-related majors?

A: Rowan currently houses an esports concentration within the Sports Communication and Media (Sports CaM) program and is exploring additional educational partnerships to enhance esports as an academic pursuit.

How can I get an internship in the gaming industry?

A: Students will have an opportunity to work and intern at the Rowan Boulevard facility when it opens. Announcements about those opportunities will be advertised through the Career Advancement Office.

How do I get more involved?
