Mission Statement
The Rowan University Police Department is committed to provide a safe, supportive, caring and inclusive environment for all members of our community to feel valued, respected and welcomed. We strive to provide a collaborative approach to prevent crime, enhance safety and build trust with our community.
Missions and Values
Mission
The Rowan University Police Department is a professional law enforcement agency, dedicated to providing an efficient, fair, and the highest quality law enforcement response for the citizens we are privileged to serve. Our mission consists of the following services.
Protecting life and property.- Preventing crime, reducing the fear of crime, and apprehending those who violate the law.
- Providing the community with public service in the form of citizen education, career days, volunteer in community programs, support charitable organizations, fingerprint programs and other programs that benefit the community.
- Working cooperatively with the public, other law enforcement agencies and governmental agencies, officers should strive to improve the quality of life for all residents and visitors to Rowan University.
Value
A law enforcement agency is guided in its operation by statutes, ordinances, policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and the Law Enforcement Code of Ethics. In addition to legal and administrative requirements, law enforcement agencies are powerfully influenced by their values. Values are beliefs that guide the organization and the behavior of its members. To help accomplish our mission, the Rowan University Police Department is committed to the following values to guide our work and decisions.
- Openness and Accessibility. Members shall strive to conduct their affairs publicly and be accessible to the public.
- Fairness. Members shall strive to be fair in all of their actions.

Responsiveness. Members shall be responsive to the needs of the community and work together to solve problems of mutual concern.

Sensitivity. Members shall be sensitive to the needs and concerns of the public.
- Accountability. Members shall be accountable to themselves and the community for their conduct and performance.
- Organizational Efficiency. Members shall be committed to efficiently providing services and with conserving the tax dollars which fund the operations of our Office. Members shall maintain and protect Office facilities and equipment to the best of their ability.
- Community Orientation. Members shall strive to always do what is in the best interest of the community.
- Compassion. Members shall show empathy and caring for victims,complainants and all people with whom they come in contact.
- Problem Solving. Members are most effective when they help identify and solve community problems.
- Integrity. Integrity is priceless. Honesty is the basis for personal and public trust.
- Democratic Principles. Members shall protect the constitutional rights and personal freedoms of all residents and persons coming within their jurisdiction.
- Teamwork. The importance of each member as an individual and a team member is recognized. The values set forth above shall apply to our interaction with each other and all who we come in contact with.
