Behind the Telescope
We've partnered with the Girl Scouts of Central and Southern New Jersey to increase girls' interest and confidence in astronomy through the Behind The Telescope project funded by NASA.
Through Behind the Telescope, girls will have access to NASA scientists, hands-on STEM activities, and much more in public outreach events throughout the year all while earning merit badges. Find information about the next outreach event and register your scouts below.

Explore the Solar System - August 13, 6:30 - 10 pm
Explore the solar system with fellow space enthusiasts and curious girls for an out-of-this-world event!
Scouts will begin their Night Owl badge in an evening packed with hands-on science demonstrations and space-themed snacks like Oreo Moons and marshmallow constellations. Discover the global collaboration required to answer some of our most pressing questions in the planetarium show, We Are Astronomers. Speak with a NASA scientist and discover the many ways we explore our solar system. Then examine it for yourself through our telescopes (weather permitting).
This event is open to all girls in 5th - 8th grade who are or are interested in becoming a Girl Scout.
All participants will receive a planetarium fun patch.
Advance registration is required. Registration closes at 11:59 pm on July 31.
