The Office of Technology Commercialization (OTC) works with Rowan University inventors to ensure understanding and following of the university's patent policies and procedures. OTC provides advise and expertise on intellectual property matters and encourages inventors to contact the office early in their process to discuss their invention. Our staff members screen inventions and discoveries made in university facilities for patentability, commercial potential, and general marketability. We assess the value of the invention for patent protection and, if appropriate, file patent applications at no cost to the inventor. We then market Rowan's patents, prepare and negotiate confidentiality agreements, material transfer agreements, and licensing agreements with companies interested in commercializing the invention.

To begin this process, you need to fill out an invention disclosure form. The OTC mandate is to assist students and faculty who have newly created innovations. Inventors are encouraged to contact OTC at any point in the research and invention process.
