It is that time of year again!  It is time to start planning for spring checkout.  Below is important information you will need in order to successfully navigate this process. It is MANDATORY for each resident to complete a check out process.

Spring 2019 Check-Out Information


Official Checkout Times (for all students NOT graduating)

RLUH building staff are available in the following ways each day between the hours of 10:00 am and 10:00 pm.

All Checkouts are considered Express, which means that staff will not be conducting a walkthrough of your room/apartment at the time of your checkout.


Monday, May 6th - Wednesday, May 8th: Checkout by contacting the RA Duty phone for your complex.


Thursday, May 9th  – Friday, May 10th: Checkout by reporting directly to the checkout location for your complex.



·         You are a graduating resident, OR

·         You will be transitioning directly into your summer housing assignment on May 18th, OR

·         You have an approved extension for any other reason.

All Graduating Seniors will follow the checkout schedule below:

Official Checkout Times for Graduating Students

Last Day to Checkout - Friday May 17th 9am-12pm

·         Checkouts will be available each day of Commencement week (between May 13th and May 16th) for Graduating Seniors between 11:30am and 5:30pm.  All Seniors must be moved out no later than Friday, May 17th between the hours of 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM.


·         Checkout by reporting to the checkout location advertised for the complex you reside in. An RA will assist you with your express checkout.

  • Detailed closing instructions will be e-mailed to your Rowan e-mail address and posted on our website (rowan.edu/rluh) over the next few weeks. You will also have a MANDATORY floor meeting with your RA in which all of this information will be discussed in detail.


Checkout Extension Requests

All students must move out of their room/apartment no later than Friday, May 10th at 9:00pm.  If you are a non-graduating student who is unable to leave by this date and time, you must complete the checkout extension request form.  Please note that extensions are only approved for academic related reasons, assistance with commencement, or documented proof of hardship.

Checkout extension requests are due by Friday, April 19th at noon. Requests submitted after this date cannot be considered. Residential Learning and University Housing will respond to your request via your Rowan email address. 

For students who fall into one or more of the below categories, a checkout extension will automatically be noted and approved by our office so the individual student should not submit a request to stay later.  The advisor or coordinator of your program will provide our office with the approved list of students and our office will automatically approve your extension.  You will be sent notification via email the week of April 22nd stating the date you are approved to remain on campus.  If you have a question or concern once this email comes out please email housingquestions@rowan.edu.

Group that will be approved and do not need to submit a checkout extension via MyHousing

  • Baseball
  • EMS assisting with commencement
  • Graduating Seniors (including those who are walking)
  • Pep Band assisting with commencement
  • PROs assisting with commencement
  • RAs
  • RCGC students
  • Softball
  • Summer School (Session I or II)
  • Track/Field
  • Women’s Lacrosse

For students that do not fall into one of the above categories but would like to request an extension, please follow the below instructions:

How a student submits a checkout extension request:

  • Log into http://www.rowan.edu/selfservice
  • Click on the student tab and on MyHousing
  • Click on Housing applications & Forms from the top menu
  • Selection "Spring 2019 Checkout Extension Form (Spring 2019)" from dropdown menu
  • Answer the questions in the form
  • When you successfully complete the form, you will see a screen that states "Thank you for submitting your application".  In addition when you return back to the dropdown menu under "Housing applications and forms" you will see that the form is now noted as "completed".

Damage Billing / Appeals Process

 Prior to students moving into their residence halls and apartments, room condition reports were completed by RLUH staff documenting the condition of the space.  Residents were instructed to review the RCR upon checking in.


The same process is completed by the Resident Directors and Residential Learning Coordinators after the space is completely vacated. Significant damages were discovered in your room or apartment that are considered outside the scope of normal wear and tear and were not pre-existing and documented on your original room condition report.  As a result, a damage bill has been generated for the responsible resident(s) of the space.


How Do I Review My Damage Billing Charges?

  • Between Monday, June 3, 2019 and Friday, June 14, 2019, click “Access Banner Services” at rowan.edu/selfservice and log in with your Rowan ID and PIN
  • Select the “Student” tab
  • Click on “My Housing”
  • Click on “More Tasks” from the top menu
  • Click on “Billing Summary”
  • Click on “Spring 2019” and submit


How Do I Make A Payment?

  • Click “Access Banner Services” at rowan.edu/selfservice and log in with your Rowan ID and PIN
  • Click "Bursar” tab and "ePay Center" to enter the secure payment site
  • Or send payment to: Office of the Bursar, Rowan University, Savitz Hall, 201 Mullica Hill Rd, Glassboro, NJ 08028  (include student ID # on face of check or money order)

 Payment must be received in the Bursar's Office by

Friday, June 28, 2019 to avoid Bursar’s late fees or denial of services.


How Do I Appeal A Charge Or Accept Responsibility For A Shared Charge?

  • Log into MyHousing via www.rowan.edu/selfservice
  • Click on Housing Applications & Forms (Spring 2019)
  • Click on Damage Bill Appeal Form
  • Fill out the application in its entirety. Once you have successfully completed the form, you will receive email confirmation to your Rowan e-mail address.
  • Appeals must be received between Monday, June 3, 2019 and Friday, June 14, 2019–The appeal application will no longer be viewable after June 14th at 11:59pm, therefore late appeals will not be reviewed.

Appeals properly completed via MyHousing and by the deadline (Friday, June 14, 2019) will be investigated by appropriate staff.

An appeal decision will be sent to your Rowan email account with pertinent information about the outcome by Wednesday, June 19, 2019. Any remaining balance of a damage charge will be due by Friday, June 28, 2019 to avoid Bursar’s late fees or denial of services.
