Additional Funding

After accepting grants, scholarships and federal loans, students and families can consider additional funding options to help meet any out-of-pocket expenses to attend Rowan University. While we always encourage students and families to consider federal assistance first, there are a variety of private lenders offering competitive student loan products for students and parents.

Parent PLUS Loan

Parents of matriculated, dependent, undergraduate students who are enrolled at least half-time may borrow up to the cost of attendance from the federal government. Applying parents must be citizens or eligible non-citizens of the United States and pass a financial credit check. Students whose parents determined to be denied a PLUS loan may be eligible to borrow additional unsubsidized loans (see chart below)

Graduate PLUS Loan

Eligible, matriculated graduate students may borrow up to the cost of education from the federal government. The applying student must pass a financial credit check. The PLUS loan, when added to other financial aid and/or resources, may not exceed the total cost of attendance for that academic year.

Alternative/Private Loan

Rowan University does not maintain a preferred lender list for private alternative education loans, nor are we able to recommend specific lenders. However, over the last several years, our students and parents have used the lenders found on the list provided in the link below to meet their education loan borrowing needs. Using ELMSelect, a service provided by ELM Resources, students and parents can compare and contrast the terms and conditions of each loan option and select a private education loan that best suits their financial circumstances. Students are not limited to the lenders appearing on the ELMSelect list and may choose any lender that best suits their educational borrowing needs.

Deferred Payment Plan

A deferred payment plan allows students to pay their total  bill in installments. The first installment plus a $30.00 enrollment fee on or before the indicated due date. The remaining installments will be billed via e-mail to student’s Rowan e-mail address during the semester.
