With a new mission to serve the entire Rowan community by bringing professional artists and exhibitions to campus, the newly renamed Rowan University Art Gallery (previously called the Westby Gallery) opens with a groundbreaking exhibition, Better Than Ever: Women Figurative Artists of the '70s Soho Co-ops. The shows within Westby allow in-house instruction with professionals' work, as well as access for public audiences.
From heyday of the SoHo co-op art scene, the first exhibit features art by Dottie Attie, Nancy Beal, Temma Bell, Marcia Clark, Daria Dorosh, Sharyn Finnegan, Janet Fish, Susan Grabel, Nancy Grilikhes, Barbara Grossman, Marjorie Kramer, Marion Lerner Levine, Tomar Levine, Cynthia Mailman, Frances Siegel, Sylvia Sleigh, Shaw Stewart and Selina Trieff.
