With Rowan University's institutional transformation, the need for a new icon symbolizing it increases. A University-wide, 19-member committee spends 18 months extensively researching logo systems of comparable institutions and creating and fine-tuning the logo used today. Rowan's professional design team—many of them alumni—develops scores of options based on internal and public surveys about Rowan's identity and goals. The final design features a stylized torch and oak leaf-flame illustration, both inspired by the institution's local tradition and larger vision.
